PATRIOTIC SPERRYS

Two years ago I came across a great pair of red, white, and blue Sperry A/O Top-Siders that were perfect for the summer holidays.  I waited too long to get them, and when I finally did get around to purchasing them, they were sold out in my size.  Knowing this, I planned to buy them early last year, but unfortunately life got really hectic, and once again they were sold out of my size.

This year I was on top things and began looking as soon as the weather started to warm up, but I wasn’t able to find them.  My disappointment was great, as I had fallen in love with these shoes and by now was obsessed with them.  As a consolation I began to explore other brands to see what might be available.  The closest I found was a pair from Sebago, but truth be told I was reluctant to buy them. 

I have been wearing Sperry boat shoes since college (over thirty years now) and quite honestly am pretty loyal to the brand.  Finally though, I resigned myself to buying the red, white, and blue boat shoes from Sebago – I really wanted boat shoes with this color combination.  As I was searching for the best deals online, a miracle happened in the form of The World Cup Soccer Tournament.

As the tournament began, I noticed that Sperry was posting their “Flag” line on their website.  This line featured a half-dozen A/O Top-Siders in bright colors to mirror the flags of various nations, and right there in vivid, bold, beautiful color was the red, white, and blue A/O Top-Siders I had been looking for.  Needless to say I bought them immediately.

Although it ended up being a three year process, I was finally able to get the red, white, and blue Sperry A/O Top-Siders I was searching for.  While three years is a bit long, true to my normal pattern, I waited until I could find exactly what I was looking for.  My patience paid off, and I must say I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.  And they arrived just in time for the Fourth!!!
