THE 30TH ANNUAL POLO CLASSIC

This year the Polo Classic celebrated its 30th anniversary. Sponsored by Polo For Philanthropy, the Classic is the preeminent polo event in the Twin Cities, with a history that actually goes back much farther than 30 years.

The 30th annual polo classic is about the begin!

Let the shopping begin!

A visit to the Twin City Polo Club's website gives a short history of Minnesota's connection with the sport.

Polo itself has been played in Minnesota for over seventy years, first at Fort
Snelling in the 1920s by the U.S. Army, then continuing at the Meadow Lake
               Polo Club in Wayzata, MN.

This was followed by a stint at the Eagle Ridge Polo Club near Shakopee, MN
and finally brought to our current home fields of West End Farm in 1964 forming
what is still known today as the Twin City Polo Club in Maple Plain, MN.

Very little has changed since the 1960's, and the polo matches remain a relaxing and fun way to spend an afternoon.

In 1989, working with Polo For Philanthropy, the Twin City Polo Field began hosting the Polo Classic.

The classic car show is always a favorite part of the day.

Todd getting ready to head back to the future!

Tommaso found a favorite.

This still my favorite car, and it's there every year.

During these past 30 years, the Polo Classic has become one of the premier summer events in the Twin Cities, and has raised millions of dollars for charities, and this year's recipient was This Old Horse. During those 30 years the event has incorporated a number of fun activities including, a classic car show, a silent auction for charity, a hat show and completion for best outfit, and of course the half-time "Pretty Woman" divot stomp.

Finally got the whole group together so we could take a picture at our tent.

And won't you smile for the camera . . .

The half-time divot stomp . . .

. . . Just like in the movie Pretty Woman.

my friends and I have been attending the Polo Classic for several years not and it is always and amazing and fun time!
