EGYPT'S SUNKEN CITIES

I apologize in advance as this is going to be a post primarily filled with photos. If you haven’t already seen the “Egypt’s Sunken Cities” exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA), you need to do so immediately! This is one of the most impressive exhibits I’ve seen there, and is well worth your time to see.

I will warn you that the exhibit is huge and will take a considerable amount of time to experience, but it truly is amazing.  You will view firsthand monumental statues, jewelry, ceramic and stone carving that were lost to the world over 1200 years ago, due the rising tides of the Mediterranean Sea. Fortunately these relics were all rediscovered a few decades ago, and are available for us to view today.

As you can see from these photos, the exhibit is massive and expansive, and leaves us with a sense of awe. It is definitely a must see event.

A final photo of my favorite sculpture from the exhibit.

“Egypt’s Sunken Cities” runs through April 14, so you still have time to see this amazing exhibit.
